Touring to Hamilton ON anyone?

SWMBO and I did a mini-tour from Toronto to Hamilton recently. It was credit card touring at its' best, with a stop at the Sheraton in Hamilton. The hotel was nice, but the friendly service was amazing.

You can follow the Waterfront Trail to Hamilton. We ended up taking Plains Road from Burlington to avoid the incredible hills as you near Hamilton.Hamilton has been trying to shake off its' "lunch bucket town'" moniker by re-doing the waterfront. There is a great bike trail that runs along the foreshore and goes along Hamilton Harbour to the DeJardain (sp) canal to Coote's Paradise.

There is a thriving artist colony in Hamilton, many of whom have deserted the high rents of Toronto for the cheap and funky west end.

Nice two day sojourn.

Geez, that is hard to believe. Though I spent a great deal of precious time on the escarpment when I was a kid, so why not.

Next year if you go again you could go during the flyfishing for carp competition, though the thought of what may really be in the harbour is bracing.

When I lived in Etobicoke, I used to do my centuries out past Hamilton & Grimsby (route https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2198139 ) because I didn't think there was any reason to go into Hamilton. I'll have to go into Hamilton next time.

Haven't ridden that route at all this year (got married....life turned upside down ) hopefully I'll be back at it by next spring, or if I'm really lucky, late this fall.

+1 on the bike trail along the shore. I was there a couple years ago. Really enjoyed it. The rail trail running through the city is very cool as well. Excellent views on top of the escarpment.
