List mid to high end Brand Touring Bikes
Hi, please list here all mid to high end, Brand and Model names I can find in Touring Bikes.
Full blown Tourers, or "Sport Tourers" only, not race or cross bikes.
Custom mades or Factory brands.
No entry level priced models that require lots of upgrades to perform reliably.
Please list Brands you recommend for reliability, that's my foremost concern.
Individual bike part listings are not what I need, just complete bikes for this particular thread.
Price ranges for new/used are welcome too. Age is not a factor, new or vintage is fine.
Thanks so much for all your help here on the forums !

I have already perused many of the threads and have not found this list, tell me if it exists already.
I found the boards here very informative and did find some brand names.
Just want them all in one place and any extra that I may have missed.
Nice Touring bikes are scarce on the used market and it would be great to know as many as possible.
All responses are greatly appreciated, at least those containing actual help are anyway.

Of course, my Thorn Sherpa is better than everyone's bike. In fact, I heard that there won't be any more bikes made, ever, because it's so great.

LHT in it's cheap config doesn't actually have many weak parts no more than anyone would have to change like saddles and bars. Canondale. Rivendell. Rocky Mouintain. In fact there was a review of this exact kind of stuff in the current Bicycling. Trek was listed.
The thing with touring bikes is that even custom ones aren't that much different on the components. Except you might see Phil based wheels, or Rohloff, or Paul brakes, Chris King headset. But drop out of that stratosphere, and you are pretty close to the same grade of components on most bikes. There aren't any groupos, let alone 10 different levels.
The same kind of compression exists with the frames, these are not high tech items. Standard chromo, even unbutted, works great.

Sorry to be blunt, but the information is already here. Most view forums as a place for discussion and research. You wouldn't go into a library and ask, "What types of dogs would be best for me?", you'd ask, "Where can I find information on dogs?".

Good show J. C. Koto I own three of the tourers you list. Now add Cannondale. I am now using a Bruce Gordon BLT, the most rugged bike I have owned. Please check out www.bgcycles.com . Note that Bruce uses thicker tubing then most and spells out why.

Here is a helpful list from the Adventure Cycling Association:
https://www.adventurecycling.org/feat...uide_bikes.cfm
I hope in return for this modest favor the OP will have the decency to go to the ACA and pay their modest annual membership fee.

Kogo Miyata (some place in Santa Barbara now imports and sells them; just saw one the other day)
I think someone mentioned Bilenky.
And, let's not forget, the Bike Friday New World Tourist!

I find some of the responses to this question rather rude. If you are not interested in a sincere
reply why bother with such snobbish retorts. Maybe some of you have been reading Bicycling
Magazine lately?

At the end of the day, there's a pretty good list posted here, plus a link to an even more complete list.
Did you notice any omissions that would be helpful?

You would get a lot better response if you didn't phrase your post in the imperative. It's really hard to order people to do things over the internet. Maybe English isn't your first language, but you would sound a lot less rude if you said, "could you recommend some high end brand names".

When I read the original post, I also felt a little annoyance. I'm not sure why. I didn't send a flame, but I also didn't take the time to consider composing such a list. If I tried, I'm sure I'd forget plenty, and I'd have a hard time putting them in any kind of order. Maybe some of the responses were a little rude, but nobody punched anybody in the nose. Ya pays your money and ya takes your chances.
I like your Thorn, but my LHT can probably beat it up.
