Smallest gear on your touring bike

Just wondering what is the smallest gear ratio on your bike..

I dont have a touring bike yet ... on my commute bike my smallest
gear is 28/32 (smallest front vs largest rear). Even in this gear 10%..12% grades
feel really tough.

I was wondering the how you touring folk are geared up, to cope with your
fully loaded rigs going up whatever the landscape throws at you.

About 18 inches. (19*30/32 it's a 406 rim)

I wouldn't want to use anything bigger, but I'm a sissy.

16.1" on my Expedition bike and 17.something" on my drop bar tour bike. About 42" on my Raleigh 3 speed, which I do tour on occasionally, and 27.2" on my city bike which could be toured on too.

I don't get "gear inches", but Sheldon says my 30x34 with 700c wheels is 23.8 gear inches.

My old touring bike had 21x21 and a Sturmey Archer AW hub on 27" wheels: 21/21*3/4*27=20.25", equivalent to 24/32.

New one is a Rohloff in a 406 wheel with 52X15, about 18" (with a 95" top).

Second gear on the Rohloff is about equal to first on my old setup. I've found that if I get a lower gear I will always use it, but it doesn't necessarily mean I needed it.

No problems. The bike came with 2-cross spoking on that wheel which is not recommended by Rohloff for such a small wheel. I might have used 1-cross if I'd built the wheel myself. But I think the 2-cross looks better and it's been fine for seven years now.
