Voluntary work while touring?
Just wanted to know if any of you have been doing some organized voluntary work on bicycle tours? What and where?
Just thought that it was possible to do something good while touring if you do not have any time schedule and that you might have some free bed or food.

i'm planning on touring through Africa from next summer and will be doing some volunteering on the way - I got in touch with KIDS Worldwide, who place volunteers in orphanages and schools. Don't know yet where exactly I'll stop, but Uganda for sure and also probably in Ghana or Cameroon. I've also offered to check out other potential places I cycle by which could benefit from having volunteers
Think I might also get in touch with BEN Namibia, who are partnered with Bikes for Humanity, in providing bikes to Africans who could substantially benefit from this mode of transport.
For me, the volunteering (and photography i plan on doing) will be as much a part of the trip as the cycle touring.
I see it as a chance to meet some amazing people and hopefully do something useful.
I expect there are lots of others who do similar things.

RollAid.org actually tours AS a volunteer activity. We tour to raise awareness for combat-wounded (American) veterans and provide support for the Wounded Warrior Project.
