Quick bike/flying question

I'm using the clear plastic bag method this year - no disassembly, except for the pedals and handlebars. I was wondering, though, should I ziptie the front wheel to the frame to stop it flapping around when the bike is lifted, or will this just make it more vulnerable to a buckled wheel?

I used the clear plastic bag method once, I did not ziptie the front wheel to the frame. It should be pretty simple for a baggage handler to see that the front wheel is flopping and hold it steady. If your wheels are strong enough then hopefully the zip tie will break before the wheel buckles.

Where are you getting your plastic bag? Does the airline supply them? I looked for big plastic bags at a few hardware stores and building supply stores but none were big enough to hold my bike. I'm going back to the "no bag, just turn the handlebars sideways and take off the pedals" method whenever I can get away with it.

I'm in the UK, so I'm getting my bag from the CTC. I'm not sure if they deliver internationally, but I don't see why they shouldn't. Here's a link:

They do deliver to the US, and I don't have to pay VAT. I do, however, have to pay £30.99 (US$51) for a in shipping charges for an item priced at £5.35 (US$8.80), so I'm going to have to think about this for a minute or two. Thanks for the link, though, it's good to know that stuff like this is available.
