In the US the blackberry is a jack of all trades.
I can use Google maps to find phone #s, locations of places, where they are on the map, all in one look, and then check out the satellite view. I can place a point on the map and place another point on the map and give me directions and mileage. I can also use an address I stored before hand or select from my search. Very handy on how far to go.
My location in Google gives you the cell tower so you can position yourself.

Web browser
I can be on a hillside over looking the town and surfing the internet. The web browser does a real good job getting anything over to your browser. Lots of scrolling though. Think a scroll of everything on the normal page.
Reminded me how dial up was. Email worked great through Gmail sent straight to my phone with others yahoo.

Keyboard
Took getting use to but it was a great compromise and allowed me to write a short journal.
You can just plug in I and it will capitalize automatically. Spell check worked fine.

WIFI
This is by far one of the jack of trades.
I was able to use my web browser and my phone on wifi.. It finds the points to connect too or you can add it in. Reception or connecting was not as good as a computer, but worked for the most part.

Battery
Could always be better. I was able to talk for a couple hours on the thing, and I could write emails over the course of a 5 days not sending them, or surf the internet for four hours. Wifi consumption was worse than Data connection.

GPS
Works with out service
Yet finding a product that worked with out service was hard.
I did manage to find a program which gave altitude and cords.
The built in program has a map which you need to extract from the network before hand in order to show the roads or zoom level you want. It did work very well if you had no idea where to turn. You just fire up the berry and it shows you the road (which you download a zoom level prior) you need to turn off of. Along with your current position. It had a good network of forest roads with no names though.

Service I had T mobile and the coverage is pretty good. You are really looking for the towers in AZ, CO, WY, UT,
There were several occasions I would be outside town and surfing the internet.

I went my own route so I needed a device which would find things I needed. This worked great. For tracking, route, or map requested items I just went to the library blackberry didn't work so good as in software here. I planned my route using Bikely.com or I used a gazette map. It tries to be many things and fails at many things. But if you don't mind a little patch work it can be a great tool.
