Bicycle tourist struck and killed near Raymond, WA

Hello everyone...

I'm pretty bummed out, and feel obligated to share this article in The Daily World, which begins "Cary Girod was on the trip of a lifetime across the country when she was struck by a car on Highway 105 on Wednesday, an accident that led to her death on Thursday [July 8, 2009]." Cary was an acquaintance of mine.

From reading the article, I gather they were on a bike tour, so I figured I'd post it here.

Ride safe, everyone!

edit: oops, I now see an earlier thread about this.

Inattention is not an accident.

RHM, the article recalls the accident near Raymond, a town I have lived in, not Redmond, which is in the Seattle/Tacoma/Puget Sound area. I grew up in Aberdeen, WA. Raymond is about 25 miles south of Aberdeen. This accident is certainly a tragedy. Be careful when you ride and when you drive.
My condolences to the family and friends of those lost.

Ooops, my bad! Thanks for the correction. I'll see if I can get a moderator on it.

It's cool. I've driven the Raymond/Westport highway many times. There's plenty of room on this highway and if a bike gets hit, the driver was certainly doing something else while driving.

It's really too bad this happened as it is with all fatalities, riding or not.
