Surly LHT bars issue.

I have been riding every day for months and I noticed that my left hand was always uncomfortable and felt lower than the right when on the hoods when they are even. I moved the left hood up and the only way for them to feel even is for the left hood to be much higher than the right. I thought the problem was just me until I looked closer and made some measurements and the left drop is actually smaller than the right hood . Is this normal for these bars or are mine malformed?

Mine are even just went around them with a tape measure

Not sure what you mean about the "left drop" being smaller than the "right hood" . . . the hoods and drops are different items I would not normally compare. In any case, all the handlebars I've ever had have been pretty exactly symmetric. It's not a microchip, but bikes are made to pretty tight tolerances; if something is obviously not symmetric to the naked eye, sounds like something is damaged or defective.

the left drop seems to be farther out than the right. I could be wrong but it looks that way

You mean the drop is tilted on the bar? Or do you mean the stem is not in the middle of the bars? Or something else? What exactly did you measure and what were your measurements?

Well it's a little hard to figure out what your asking but it really can be only two things........... your bar is bent or your stem is bent...... now to figure out which of the two. Might have happened in shipping? Maybe I'm missing something here? Off to bed for me.
