Urgent,531 Galaxy lugged or 631 Galaxy...
Hi
I had been deliberating my new do everything bike and I have now narrowed it down to a Galaxy 2008 or a Claude Butler Dalesman 2008, both of which I sourced at a very good price. To throw the proverbial spanner in the cogs, the shop has a brand new 2003 old stock 531 Lugged Dawes Galaxy for a £140 cheaper. Which is the better Galaxy? I am a bit of a traditionalist and quite like the idea of a 531 lugged frame. Is there any actual difference in the ride. I probably wont do that much touring at the moment but use it for a every day commuter shopper and long comfortable day rides. Any imput as to the ride differences would be appreciated as I told the bloke that I would let him know in the morning.
Cheers

I don't know about the ride or any technical details, but I'll vote for the lugged frame, especially if you are a traditionalist.

i have a lugged dawes frame made with 531, although i cannot confirm if it is a galaxy (those decals were removed). definately a great ride. knowing that 531 is under me is very comforting. i could be wrong, but i have heard that 531 is not being made anymore. anyone else know about this?

I think 531 is still made but 501 isn't, but don't quote me on that.
