Fibre fix spoke use
How true can you get a wheel with a fibre fix? Do you have to loosen a few or the surounding spokes to get it true, or do you accept a slight wobble untill replacement?
The only time I used one, I just mounted and went off. If you catch a broken spoke right away you may not need to do anything at all. I guess it would depend on how bad the wobble was.
I do find it useful to loosen the surrounding spokes on the opposite side while installing the FiberFix. It will help you get the FiberFix tight. Then you can retighten the spokes you loosened until the wheel is true. I can usually get the wheel to be true after installation.
Last summer I used one(fully loaded)for a distance of approx 90 miles after breaking a spoke. I was pretty impressed. I would say that for touring your still better off having real spokes. But if not this is a pretty good way to go.
I was able to get the wheel true enough on the roadside and continue my ride until I came to the first bike shop.
