San Diego, CA

Hi,

Any recommendations on a bike shop in San Diego? I will be flying to San Diego Aug 19th and wanted to ship the bike instead of checking it on the flight. If anyone has previous experience with this or lives in the area your information will be very appreciative. Thanks

Where in San Diego do you plan to be?

If it is DuraAce or Record and a 56 cm, how about my house?

I would try Nytro Bikes or Hi-Tech BIkes....both are in the pro bike biz

Hollands is a friendly shop in Coronado that could help you. If you are staying in downtown SD you can take the 15 minute ferry ride across to pick up your bike.

Thanks for all the help. It will need to be relatively close to the airport since I will be taking a cab.

Hollands on Coronado is a good suggestion. You could even walk from the airport terminal to where the ferry to Coronado docks and walk to Hollands. Goggle it. Its not far. Far cheaper than a cab.

Hollands is a privately owned shop that will provide good service. There are other bike shops, but you might get lost in the shuffle. After you pick up your built bike you can camp on the strand and take the ferry back to downtown (15 minutes and $3). Or ride around San Diego bay.

Adams Ave Bicycles or Zumwalt's both are locally owned and operated.
http://aabikes.net/ for Adams Ave. bicycles
http://zcbikes.com/ for Zumwalt's, this shop has been around forever.

Hope this helps.

I like Velo Cult in South Park, also not too far from the airport. They buy used touring and road frames, fix them up VERY nice, and sell them for pretty decent prices. The owner is really into touring so Im sure he can help you. I have purchased my last bike from a place near Adams ave bikes call Calcoast Bikes. Its not a chain store but the staff is very friendly and professional.
