Touring Handlebars/Rohloff Shifter

I'm planning on ordering a Koga Miyata Globe Traveller with a Rohloff hub and I would like to be able to use drop bars but I know the Rohloff shifter can't be mounted near the stem on them. That being said I wanted to get anyone's take on touring with a flat bar with cane creek ergo II bar ends or any other options they may have.
Thanks,
Hugh

There is an adapter to allow use of the Rohloff shifter with drop bars:
Directly from Hubbub
From SJS (for Euro folks)

Have a search of the Thorn forum for some more ideas.
I use the Thorn comfort bars with Ergon grips, cut down on the right to make space for the Rohloff shifter. Some photos here.
If you want to use drops, then this gadget is stem mounted and lets you put the Rohloff shifter in a useful position.

Thanks for your help. The Thorn 55mm extension is just what I was looking for.

Thorn also makes drop bar rohloff setups using a straight MTB bar with Origin-8 Pro Pulsion drop bar ends, which are bar ends shaped like drops.

Here is a two piece drop bar for a Rohloff shifter from a German company:

SJS had a drop bar similar to the one shown on the Rohloff site. It consisted of a drop bar with a joint in the middle so the twist shifter could be mounted as shown in the Rohloff ad. I am planing on doing something like that with my Rohloff hub.

I have done exactly that on my touring bike, which has a Shimano 8-speed hub. It's a good arrangement. The bar doesn't look quite like a regular drop bar; less curvy; but it's good, especially with a lot of wrap on it.

I have a flat bar and Cane Creek Ergos, and it works well for me because I like to keep my bars as narrow as possible. I also found a riser stem helpful. Picture of the set-up near the bottom of this page:
