Rear Derailleur ?

Hi....

Just in the process of putting my new rig together. I am using a Ultegra SL Triple [50/39/30] with an IRD 11-34 rear cassette. I am looking at the Shimano Ultegra SL "long cage" rd. It states total capacity of 37t. When I do the math I am looking at 46t which the XTR M970SGS is rated at.

Using triple brifters, can I use the XTR which states it works for 7/8/9 spd. I have been told by a few mechs that it doesn't matter and will work. The Ultegra GS will work as well but need to stay out of the cross combos eg small and small etc. Please feel free to comment. Thanks in advance!

Yes. The XTR is the one you should use and it will work.

Thanks! I see that the specs for the XTR are 45t not 46 as i previously mentioned. One other question... i have some 11t ceramic pulleys. would these be compatible?? I believe they would be but would like to get an answer to back this up. thanks again for the quick reply.
