Bradenton Newbie Tourist

I hope to give it a try once the weather cools down. My plan is to ride up to Polk city and take the Van Fleet trail north. Pick up the Withlacooche trail up and back. Then over to the Suncoast trail and finally tie into the Pinellas trail south to the Skyway Bridge. Would need to coordinate a ride or pickup for the skyway. I plan to camp the whole way. Roughly 300 miles trip with approximately 200 miles of it on paved rails to trails. It will be a short tour but I fiqure it should be a nice introduction to touring. If I enjoy it then I hope to expand it with a trip in the spring to my summer home in the North Carolina mountains.

Try this:

www.caloosariders.com

This group is up in Lee County and there are touring riders among them. The club also does an annual Keys ride. Not a big tour but a multi-day trip and probably a lot of fun!

Q Sheets

Hi Mike,

Let me know when you get down to Bradenton and I will mail you my Q-sheets/re: Naples to Rome. If I can't find a partner for the fall trip to Rome,Ga I will just drive up to Rome/Father lives there/ and were going to Bicycle/camp from Rome,Ga to Aurora, Indiana. Sounds like a great trip you have planned on the trails.
