Tent pole hubs

Out of all the categories in BikeForums, this seems like the best place for my question.

I realize that all of the tent poles are connected to the center tent pole hub on a 2 pole dome tent such as the REI Half Dome 2, by way of being corded together. But I'm curious to know if it's possible to buy just a tent pole hub separately ... to use on a 2 pole dome tent that doesn't have a hub built into it. Maybe a device that you could slide each pole into. It seems like it would make a 2 pole dome tent much more stable.

I tried to do a Google search for something like this but didn't have any luck. Anybody?

Thanks.

Bob

If I understand correctly what you`re looking for, it should be a piece of cake to fab one yourself just by drilling two holes in a little chunk of plastic or MDF. I`m not sure if it would actually make the tent more stable, but it certainly wouldn`t hurt anything and it wouldn`t cost much (if any) to find out.

Hmmm ... you know, maybe a couple pieces of velcro criss-crossed where the poles intersect would do the trick too.
