ACA Utah Cliffs Route - Any Input?
I'm looking at possible routes for a fall 2010 tour. My goal would be to do a tour that involves both paved and dirt roads. After some research, The ACA route through Utah's southwest appears to meet those criteria. I'm hope average 50 miles/day, take 6 days, camp most nights, and just enjoy an area that I've never visited. I've read a couple of journals on Crazyguy, just wondering if anyone here has done all or part of this loop, or riden in this general area.

I would skip most of the stuff west of I 15. I would take I 15 up to Ceder City from Just outside Zion South. I would put the added miles into seeing either Bryce cannyon or North rim. Also I would do both the North and South Zion parks. The tunnel on SR 9 requires a motor ride. Plenty of gravel roads at the rim. I would take 89 instead also.

I'd consider not skipping the stuff west of i15. You'd be missing the Pine Valley mountains, the Volcanoes around Veyo, the awesome Crawdad Canyon and superb Snow Canyon State Park. Plus the roads are quiet.

Sore saddle cyclist
That's an awesome area, but I would add on another day or two of riding and add this. From near Hatch, turn on highway 12 and ride out to Escalante, or as far as Boulder. There is also a side trip this way into Bryce Canyon National Park, it's well worth the trip into to see this fantastic canyon. Well, maybe that is all more that two days, but it's incredible riding.
