My Brooks Saddle Keeps Putting Stains on My Cloths!!!
I am now the proud owner of three pairs of shorts with a big black **** stain on the butt in the shape of my black Brooks saddle. I have tried using water to wipe off whatever it is that keeps getting on my cloths but to no availe. I think that it happens the most on long rides when my butt gets sweaty on the saddle or when its raining a bit and the seat gets wet.
Anyone els have this problem? Any idea what I can use to get the stains out? They are all running type shorts with quick dry material. What should I do? Ill try and take some pictures If I can but I have a feeling that I just used too much brooks saddle goop and its slowly coming off on my shorts...

Leather isn't normally black, instead it's dyed to give it a black colour, some of the goop used to treat the leather can cause the dye to come out. Not sure of a solution, other then just wear those shorts that are stained for riding....

you should talk to the store that you got the saddle. They may have seen the same problem.

It's a common situation with Brooks saddles. Wear black shorts. And a little dab will do you when it comes to proofide.

I regularly wear tan and gray pants on my Brooks saddles [honey and black] I haven't seen any of the dreaded Brooks butt discoloring on them yet. I use proofide sparingly once a year or so.

after 500 miles, I've yet to have that problem with my black Brooks B-17...I don't use proofide though, I just use neutral shoe polish very, very sparingly, and I buff it like there's no tomorrow...it's starting to look spit-shined lol
