how much is this worth?

I know, another how much is it worth thread

I was looking at buying a 1992 Cannondale T1000 touring bike, the seller said it was about a 'B' in terms of what shape the bike was in. Said it haddent been ridden in about 15 years. Any ideas? I dont want to low ball him but I'm not sure what would be appropriate

Take the price of a new Surly LHT - it's about $1150 I think. Cut that in half - $575.

*Subtract* from that (a) the price of reconditioning a bike that hasn't been ridden for 15 years -- tires, tubes, bar tape, brake pads...maybe cables and a new chain as well.

*Further subtract* from that (b) the price of any work it needs that you can't do on your own (wheel truing? overhaul derailleurs?)

So offer: $575 minus (a+b).

Assuming, of course, that it fits.

If it fit, I'd buy it for $400 and dig deep if he asked for $500

Yea. $400 is a good price. $500 isn't a bad price. Over that would be too much.
