Shipping bicycle to US from Phuket Thailand
 

Has anybody shipped their bike home to the US from ****et Thailand? I'm hoping to end my upcoming tour in ****et and would like to continue traveling without the bike. I would like to ship it home by UPS or FedEx type service. Any experience? Thanks,

UPS and FedEx will probably ship air only internationally, bicycles are usually fairly light for their size, which means that couriers use cubic weights, both have web sites, you just need the weight, dimensions of the loaded box, the complete to and from address, then go surfing, both UPS and FedEx have websites. Do not be surprised to find it cheaper to give away the bike in Thailand and buy a new one in the US. International courier air shipments, get real expensive real fast. Look for a freight company that does routine shipments of larger and heavier items, these companies are usually close to airports and dockyards, they will usually be willing to throw your bike onto a load destined to the US for much less money. Some will use UPS or FedEx to deliver it to you. Make sure the receiver is someone you know well, who will be willing to pay the brokerage and customs fees for you. If it's a bicycle you originally purchased in the US, you want that noted on the customs paperwork, it may then clear without fees.

****et and Bangkok have many freight consolidators who combine several shipments into one container. This should be far less expensive than FedEx or DHL.
