great touring bike deal on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/Nashbar-Toure-MT...d=p3286.c0.m14

I would buy this in a heartbeat, but it's too small for me. Have talked to owner; it's for real.

It is already at $275, so does not look like it is going to be any kind of a screaming bargin.

How's it a great deal when it has over 22 hours to go? Thing could hit many times its value making it a horrible deal.

Only morons bid up the price before the auction ends.

If you are not around to bid then auctionstealer will bid for you in the last 10 seconds.

One approach to bidding is to set one's highest price, then bid once. This helps prevent emotional bidding such as what may occur when the bidding clock is near the end. It is possible that the one bid placed could trigger automatic increases, thus it may appear to be a bidding war early.

Is it moronic to set one's highest price and bid early so as not to get encumbered within an emotional bidding war?

That was my thought too -- the vague title and no mention of what make or model the bike is. Bet the forum never sees another post from him -- ever.

I don't see the point in bidding early.

I will put my max bid in aution stealer early but ebay only gets it with 10 seconds to go.

I wouldn't say it's moronic, but the earlier you bid, the more time you give the other guy to get emotional and talk himself into spending more than you. So, if you really want an item, I wouldn't show your hand until the last possible second.
