Stupid, but should I choose colour or form?
Planning on buying Ortlieb Rollers and I really like the yellow, but the only bright colour that the PLUs come in is red, which while OK is not as bright as yellow.
The yellow is available in the 'classic', but the classic is a bit heavier and does not have the movable mounts to angle the panniers to avoid heel touch. These will be on a Volpe, which per se has shorter chainstays than a true touring bike - so what should I do? Yellow classic for the colour or red plus for the function?

i have the bikepacker plus in blue excellent panniers.blue been my favourate colour im not a fan of either yellow or red ,if it's high vis your after panniers are not the way to go IMHO.even in daylight hours a really good blinky rear light is great for been spotted by motorist's.anyway besides all that ortlieb are brilliant you;ll be well pleased no matter what colour you pick.

IMHO, red is more visible than yellow. Cover your bets and wear a yellow shirt with your red panniers. Oh, and use a blinkie too when it's dark or foggy.

I'm voting with antokelly. The color of the pannier is a fashion statement- not a visibility strategy.
That's what lights and reflectors are for.
If you are in doubt about heel clearance, it won't matter much what color the bag is- your heel's gonna be a problem.

i'd choose function
i'd choose OD green, if they came that way
if i was concerned with visibility, I'd use a Dinotte tail lite
and/or a yellow reflective triangle
IMHO i think black and white gets the most attention!

Check with Wayne@ the Touring Store. https://www.thetouringstore.com/ORTLI...BPP%20PAGE.htm He has the Packer Plus in yellow. My wife's are yellow. Her old Packers are red, and they were not very visible. They also faded pretty bad. That is why she is riding with the new pair in this picture. The yellow show up well!

Was looking at rollers as they are lighter and tapering at the bottom - less chance of heel touch?

I chose red Ortliebs because I like red. I wear jerseys with gaudy colors, and wear high visibility yellow jackets and vests when I'm cold. I have lots of reflective material on my helmet and there are large reflective patches on the Ortliebs for when it's cloudy and dark. I don't usually ride after dark on tour, but I have a blinky for that.
