Non folding tyres and transport? tyre sizing help too please.

Hi guys,

I usually get my tyres from the US/UK and they have been till now 700*23 folding Continental tyres. Now I'm looking at Panaracer Pasela TG [for their tan sidewalls], and the wire bead ones are significantly cheaper. If I order them to a friend, would they fit into his suitcase? Never seen how non folding tyres are packed/shipped.

Thanks for any help.

For non loaded commuting and light touring, would you guys recommend the 26*1.25 0r 1.5? This is for a 54cm LHT.

Here's Sheldon's article (well, a video clip really) on how to fold a wire bead tire.

What Juha said, and 1.25" should be fine unless you're going offroad a lot.

The way Sheldon (pbuh) describes how to do it works well. I have folded many wire bead tires with no problems. Though, I don't think a red toe strap is needed. I have used twine and zip ties without an issues.

Edit: oh sorry posted while you were. I have no idea about shipping. I always pick mine up from the LBS I work at.

Usually they are folded for shipping in my experience.

Sorry SweetLou, I have to agree with Sheldon on this one, I tried a black toe strap one time and it didn't work
