Salsa Fargo for Loaded Road Touring

How does the Salsa Fargo perform for loaded road touring? Especially interested in performance with panniers on the forks. Saw some responses from Salsa at Crazyguyonabike that surprised me, suggested that weight on the front was a bit squirrelly.

I love my La Cruz but it gets a little whippy with anything over 20 lbs. or so on the back, especially when standing. I'm 190 lbs and ride the 62 cm.

Thanks.

Since I didn't get my Fargo until mid-Sept, I've only done a couple of overnights. I have a homemade platform rack on the front and a OMM rear rack. Traveled very light on both dirt and paved roads, along with some singletracks. The Fargo was great. Check out the thread on mtbr, under Salsa, there is an extensive thread devoted to the Fargo. People have been touring with it configured in various ways and all reports have been positive.

Just you wait...

If you do not intend to use the Fargo for anything more than light XC use, you may want to hold off on the purchase. Salsa is set to release (February) the Vaya, a Fargo-lite if you will:

42c tires, rack/fender mounts, longer HT for touring...exact details are not yet known, though, as this is all based on leaked and/or early catalog production.
