Beaver Creek Valley State Park Caledonia MN info needed

I plan on riding from Reedsburg WI doing the bike trail to Lacrosse, then jump on Hwy 16 to Houston MN. I have done this portion previously several times. But I was thinking of taking Hwy 76 to Beaver Creek Valley state park and camping there and was wondering if anyone from MN knows if this road is paved all the way to the state park and if this is a feasible way to get to the park from Houston MN. I know nothing about the park but thought it might make a good destination for a change of pace. Thank You

I have not biked this, but have driven it many times. The road is scenic and has a couple of climbs, I believe that there is a minimal shoulder on most of the road, but it is paved. I would probably stay off it at commute times, otherwise it should be fine. Beaver Creek Valley State Park is very nice. I have camped and hiked there, and did an Artist in Residence program there in 2009. The Park Manager, Anne Selness, is a wonderful lady. Hope this helps. I love southeastern MN.

Here's a link to the park's website. It does say that there is road construction in the area. I would call the park and talk to them about it. I have been to the park before but have not ridden there. It's a nice smaller park.

thank you for the replies, this helps a lot. Hwy 16 between Lacrescent and Houston has narrow shouldars at times also but I manage it, so I will have to give this park a try. thanks again
