That frame is pretty bomber, it will be a bit twitchier than the purpose-built LHT but plenty of people have loaded them up.
If you search the forums you can find some pictures of people with gear piled high on their Cross Checks.

P.S. When are where are you planning on going?

People have used the CC, and other steel cross frames (notably the Bianchi Volpe), to tour for years now.

Just make sure it fits (the sizing is different than typical road bikes), has the right gearing, and fits you well, and you're pretty much all set.

Yeah Its fits good. I'm 6'1" and Its 60cm frame. It may be a little big but the 58cm was too small. I have 40 spoke tandem wheels on it now which will help with the load. They are Sun rims Cr-116? I cant remember. Thier laced with Shimano HB-HF07 hubs. They are pretty meaty. I also have a rear rack and a front nashbar rack that attaches to the brake bosses. I also have a handlebar bag. It should be pretty good for the trip. I plan on leaving in June and returning in August. Roughly 2500- 3000 miles. Thanks for the responses!

Sure. Mostly short trips of a few days (to and from conferences, for example). No problems.

Well, a map would have helped.

I rode from San Francisco to New York last summer on my cross-check with it fully loaded and she performed beautifully throughout the entire trip!

You might consider seeing if a frame bag will fit in there without interfering with a down tube waterbottle. I've been using a Jandd frame bag on a bike with a long head tube and it's been a very nice way to carry misc. gear. I carry the cable lock on the right side with enough room for thin cap, gloves, and a Dinotte 200 headlight with the thin left compartment for wallet, phone. It doesn't fit well on the 56cm CC but might on the 60cm of yours.
