Dream Companion on Tour?

What qualities would you want? What would this person be like?

(Either realistically, or no-holds-barred fantastically, or both.)

My 10 year old daughter said she wanted to come with me when I cross Canada in 2015... makes me think we will want a tandem for this.

When I am with a friend he or she has priority and the touring thing comes in second. So there is no ideal friend for touring for me as touring, in that case, serves friendship.
Those tours tend to be relatively short though, days, a week, two at most. Otherwise I travel alone which is an all different matter then.

She is sitting on the couch in the next room reading a book. I'm just one lucky guy.

My wife. But first she'd have to not be scared of bugs, have to resign herself to pooping in the woods, have to like the idea of sleeping in a tent; oh, and also learn to ride a bike.

Barack Obama. I think it would be really interesting to spend a few days bonding with him on the open road (or trail). I'd love to get some insight into how one deals with the stress of leading our nation through such times. The secret service could haul our gear in their motorcade so it should be a pretty lightweight ride too.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scheherazade

"[Shahrazad] had perused the books, annals and legends of preceding Kings, and the stories, examples and instances of by gone men and things; indeed it was said that she had collected a thousand books of histories relating to antique races and departed rulers. She had perused the works of the poets and knew them by heart; she had studied philosophy and the sciences, arts and accomplishments; and she was pleasant and polite, wise and witty, well read and well bred."

Bikes: Specialized Tarmac Expert, 2002 TREK 520, Schwinn Mesa WINTER BIKE, Huffy Rock Creek 29er, 1970s-era Ross ten speed. All my bikes are highly modified(except the Tarmac) yet functional, and generally look beat to ****. .

It's liable to be a BIG motorcade.

Wow. Seriously? You found that picture I posted offensive?

I'm curious: are you implying that you think that the young lady in the photo couldn't possibly be a competent cyclist? She looks like she's in pretty good shape to me...Who's the biased one here?

Someone you like or love enough to not let their idiosyncrasies bug you too much. My daughter and her friend who were with me on the TA fall into that category for me. So far I have not toured with anyone else long enough to include them in the list.

I figure that it is always a crap shoot and I am pretty selective about committing to riding with anyone for very long.
