Are these reasonable prices for wheels?

My bike has 126mm rear spacing, so I'm very limited in the wheels I can buy pre-manufactured for touring purposes. I asked at my LBS how much it would cost to build a rear wheel and order in a pre-manufactured front wheel. I'd like to know if these are good prices, and if not, where I might have better luck inside of Canada (a lot of places in the States won't ship wheels across the border). There were a few other items e list I wouldn't mind some weighing in on as wellon th, but most importantly, I want to know about the wheels.

The rear wheel with a Mavic 119 silver, 36H tiagra silver, Wheelsmith spokes would be $135
SRAM PG730 12-32T 7spd cassette would cost $20.

Prebuilt front wheel Mavic 119 on shimano RM40 hub 32H $92

Brooks B17 standad $130

Axiom Journey lowrider front racks, we have a few pairs on sale for $20

Axiom Odysee rear racks $44

Thanks.

If your frame is steel.... You can make a standard 130 spacing work with cold setting or maybe even just a little hand pulling.

4mm is very little...

That would open you up to a whole world of choices.

it's a steel frame, and the hub for the built wheel will be 130mm, so yes, i do have a world of possibilities, which is why i want to know if this is a good price.

If the $135 includes labor I think it's a decent price. Despite what some might say.... The Tiagra hub is a decent hub. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

Order the Brooks from Wiggle out of the UK for much less than the $130 price above.. $69(us) plus shipping.. Linkyhttps://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Br...le/5360023051/

The rest?.. I have no idea.

Wiggle is a great place to pick up stuff.. Decent ship times as well. 10 days or less to the West Coast(Washington State) on most orders.

Blackburn Expedition rack at wiggle for $43... It's a proven rack that will not let you down...

I bought my wheels from Beyond Bikes and they had great prices for hand built wheels. Also Colorado Cyclist is a good place to look. As far as the Axiom rack, if I were you I'd go in another direction. I also have an Axiom rack and while the prices are good there own panniers don't fit on them very well. I'm not sure who the company designer is but they need a new line of work.

Isn't wiggle the U.K. vendor that had credit card theft problems last year? Or was that one of the other ones? Have to admit: I like the idea of keeping my money in the country where I reside (and not having to worry about customs, currency conversion charges, etc), so I tend to avoid overseas vendors...

They take Paypal as well... So no worries. Credit card fraud happens. If you are worried you can always use a one time number from a credit card company or heck.. even paypal will issue one.

The price looks pretty good. After trashing several rims in my day, I never plan on touring on anything less than a719 ever again, but the a119 doesn't look like a bad rim.

Do you have skype? Give them a call or email. I've never been charged duty on shipments to the states.

PayPal is the way to go with Wiggle. You can even have them charge PayPal in your currency, which saves you the usual 2.5% conversion fee. (Run the numbers to be certain, but they'll generally work to your favor if you go with your currency rather than with pounds.)

Canada might be more aggressive in collecting duty for small quantity items than the US is. I don't know what the rate would be for Canada. They probably have the rates posted online, though it will take some effort to find the rates, and then to match your item to a category. For the US, depending on the item, it's generally 10% or less, and sometimes even free.

I've been hit with brutal 'brokerage' fees from shipping companies but not on items just sent through the post. I got a brand new derailleur from HK without a problem. Sometimes duty on things, but the duty wasn't really very much by itself.
