Bicycle.....meet your partner, Trailer!
On June 14th, my buddy and I are embarking on an 8 day, 8 centuries, tour from Reno to the Grand Canyon. We will travel, in part, the Extraterestial Highway and camp on the ground. I may actually return to Reno alone, another 800 miles!
Anyways, this morning....I just combined the new Bob and the Motobecane together for the first time and what a treat! Also, I ran the rig up a 5% grade in my neighborhood and was really surprised at WHAT LITTLE rolling resistance/weight drag I felt.
Here's the specs.....Aluminum bike, carbon fork, touring seat, 30 speed Ultegra, Mavic Elite wheels, Victtoria Pro 25c tires (the pics show my roller rear wheelset). cycle computer, without water gross weight=20.3 lbs.
Trailer....90-psi tire upgrade, led light, cargo includes bag, tent, highend pad, tools, 2 tires, 3 tubes, pump, lights, footprint, ipod, cell, solar charger, "protection device", clothing, food, etc. Without water gross weight=40.7 lbs.
Without water total package=61 pounds! This gross vehicle weight has exceeded my wildest dreams (I was anticipating 75 pounds plus water) what do you all think? Raydog

I think you've hit on a key aspect - when you put high psi tires on a trailer it really makes a difference regarding rolling resistance.

Absolutely! I've really been quite worried that I would immediately notice some "liabillities" with the Bob.....since my above post I've accelerated through the gears, hammered up a steep, decended, zig zagged, and practiced tight manuvers....most of the time I don't even notice its existance! Now I can really get in to the excitment of my forthcoming trip! Raydog

Bikes: Specialized Tarmac Expert, 2002 TREK 520, Schwinn Mesa WINTER BIKE, Huffy Rock Creek 29er, 1970s-era Ross ten speed. All my bikes are highly modified(except the Tarmac) yet functional, and generally look beat to ****. .

raydog, some BOB trailer owners have manufactured their own kickstands. I see now that Greenfield sells one. I also own a BOB but don't have a kickstand for it. It isn't necessary but sure would be handy.
Regarding standing and climbing with the BOB, to me it feels somewhat like tandem when in the captain's spot. This isn't a bad thing. It's just something to be ready for.

I have found the click-stand to be the ultimate kickstand, especially with loaded touring bikes and/or trailers. Super stable and lightweight:

I would also get a kick stand for the bike . https://www.biketrailershop.com/catal...kickstand2.jpg
Or I would forgo adding any kickstands and jacknife it. One kickstand didn't work for me and created a bent derailleur.
Water is roughly 7 lbs a gallon.
Your faster downhill than a regular bike, but only a 1mph or 2. Going up you will really feel the pull. I found it to be like climbing stairs.
