Great Alaganie and Ohio Bike Trail Tour

A friend of mine is soloing the above trail. He will be leaving in two weeks. Anyone have any suggestions to offer for the trip? He is carrying two bike shorts and jerzeys, a pair of shorts, one t shirt and one long sleeved t shirt. Every other night he will be staying somewhere that has a washer and dryer.

Probably will be getting pretty muddy so fenders are his friends and rain gear is a good idea (mostly to keep him warm as it won't keep him that dry). Front suspension is a good idea too but not necessary, the C&O can get pretty rooty. I did have front suspension and couldn't tie my shoes afterwards but that went away after a month or so. If it's warming up and he's camping, I suggest mosquito hood and plenty of deet. On the Allegheny watch for bears (I saw a very large black bear) but shouldn't be a problem. What could be a problem are Timber Rattlers, saw a big one of those to. I highly recommend he just leave those alone and ride on by (they have quite the reach when they want to strike). The biggest problem though will be weather, mosquitoes and the C&O trail surface.
