Front fender that goes low enough to protect bottom bracket?

I'm looking for a set of fenders that will fit the 26"x1.5" wheels and tires on the Long Haul Trucker, *but* I really really REALLY want a set where the front one goes way low so that my bottom bracket doesn't get any spray. The ones I see on the interwebs, even from Planet Bike (with the flap) really don't look like they protect the BB from anything.

I was just borrowing a LHT recently that had wooden fenders and THOSE went really far down. But I'm not putting wooden fenders on mine. Need something cheaper and more utilitarian.

Does anyone make proper ones?

Here's my 52cm LHT (26x1.5) with SKS P-45 fenders and a home brew mudflap cut from a rubber stair mat. This setup works quite well keeping me and the drive train clean.

A mudflap is the way to go. A fender that goes down far enough is inconvenient whenever you need to remove the front wheel and is easily damaged.

+1 - even my mudflap below is not long enough...I'd like it to touch the ground when the bike is not moving...wind will move it backwards so it's not scrapping the asphalt when you are moving...cost is free...just cut up a milk jug.

Home-brew mudflaps are the way to go. My wife (the mechanic) cut up a plastic bottle and used cable ties to put one on. I liked it so much I had her put a mudflap on my mudflap (Yo Dawg!).

I don't know which fenders you've seen by Planet Bike but these are the Freddy Cascadia MTB. I've tested them in a rainy 200 km brevet and they work perfectly. Unless you're looking for a plow that is.

Add on mudflaps are the best bet. Honjo and Velo-Orange both make extra long fenders, but they are metal and can be damaged. If you don't feel up to making your own mudflaps, run a search for lowrider bike parts, they have quite the selection.
