A trip in august? where to? Anyone want to come?

I was planning on doing a x country trip on my motorcycle this august. I took already 3 weeks off to do it, but now my motorcycle needs a new engine. ouch. and im left with 3 weeks to do something.

Now i was wondering if you guys have any ideas on rides. Maybe get on the c/o canal and ride? Id like to do a cross country thing maybe and then fly back with the bike, is this possible? Any ideas?

Anyone up for anything like this?

What part of the country are you in?

August can be some hot riding. On the cross-country and flying back, that can be done (or half-way across or whatever suits you), but the flying back kind of leaves you out of options if you have problems along the way.

A fellow on another forum was trying to work a tour of Route 66, and that sounded like a neat idea.

Don't buy your ticket before the trip, buy it when you are almost done. Leave options open if possible. I traveled out of country a couple times, and didn't like that hard-end-date that the return ticket gave me - but with an international flight it wasn't feasible to leave it open. In the states, you can get a reasonable ticket 2 weeks in advance, and even a last minute one is usually not that bad.

Im in washington d.c.(suburbs) Id love to do a route 66 trip.

Its just an idea...I d love to go on a bicycle ride, i have never done any long riding on my bicycle. Motorcycles yes. Bicycles no. I think it would be a great adventure. I just would like to meet up with some more experienced riders.

I was just about to ask ... which country? But I'm guessing you mean the United States?? Sorry ... can't make it over there in August.

But you might want to check out this site:
https://www.pactour.com/
They've got a transcontinental tour from July 10 to August 10.
