I need suggestions on some shifters

I just got a Novara Safari and completely distain the twist shifters. Does anyone have a recommendation on some good trigger shifters or some other options? Here is what I am considering so far...

As long as your Safari has 9 cogs in back either of those shifters you linked to will work fine.

I like the REI offering. I dislike the gear position indicator and you can remove it for a cleaner bar. Cheaper is nice and I prefer simplicity especially when it comes to touring.

You may like the SRAM grip shifters. I had the Shimano and didn't like them. as I use treking bars, the grip shifts work well for me

I was actually thinking about doing this: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...s.aspx?sc=FRGL

with these: http://www.treefortbikes.com/product...-Thumbies.html

Because I saw the same thing here and liked it : http://www.velonaut.net/blog/?page_id=568

Thoughts?

The Paul Thumbies and Shimano Bar Ends are a fantastic combo, easy to use and bulletproof. I use this setup on my bikes and it works great.
