Motobecane Gran Turismo - no fork eyelets?
I was just checking out the new (i think it's new) Motobecane Gran Turismo from the old BD. It looks well-specced, and I like the lugged fork, but..... I see no fender/rack eyelets on the fork. There are holes to screw in a low-rider rack midway up the fork, but there must be some mistake right? I mean you can put on a rack and fenders on a front fork if it has eyelets on the dropouts and no mid-fork braze-ons, but I don't think you can do the reverse. What's going on here?

If you have way too much money, you could get this mini front-rack which I don't think has any practical advantage over this one. For that price, you could just buy a new fork and a nice Blackburn rack!

In case anyone is still curious, I received a reply from BikesDirect and there are in fact NO EYELETS on the front fork of this thing. What on earth are they thinking?!

What do you mean? Isn't it a "top quality" bike like they claim?
BTW...Maybe it's just the way the photo was taken, but the chainstays loook a little short. Can't seem to find any meausrement info. beyond the top tube height, which is not the only consideration, especially if you have big feet.

Bikesdirect informed me via email on 06-24-10 that "Apparently the fork was speced incorrectly and this will be changed for the next production run this winter." Uh-oh, I think the value of the current model just dropped.

From the geometry chart on BD website, the chain stays are 440mm and it is the same chart as the one for the Windsor Tourist. That makes it even more likely that they are basically the same bikes with different components spec'd. Not saying that is bad or good, just interesting.
