San Diego to Las Vegas
Hey all,
I would like to ride from San Diego to Las Vegas (or more accurately Boulder City) later this fall (I have time off in October). I have made the drive many times, but would like to see something other than all of the traffic on I-15. I've looked around here and on CGOAB and haven't seen anyone that has written of this journey.
I'm trying to find the best route, but between google maps and state highway maps, I am having trouble determining which roads/route would be the best or even possible to ride. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions that might help me in my planning?

here's my route from 2008:
oceanside->anza
anza->29 palms
29 palms->kelbaker road. there isn't much out here, so bring extra water and food. there's vending machines at roy's, food at kelso, and a small store at cima.
kelbaker road -> primm, where i got a ride to vegas. i think there are frontage roads you can take to vegas from primm, but i'm not certain on that.
it's probably not the best route, but it works
edit: if you are going to boulder city, i think you can go by way of searchlight, rather than going through primm

Re: San Diego to Las Vegas
Hi John,
Some friends of mine cycled from Las Vegas to San Diego in December 2008. They did a nice description of the route which you can find here: https://journals.worldnomads.com/thef...ost/27699.aspx
I live in Las Vegas. If you want a route that skirts the southern end of the Vegas metro area and gets you onto Highway 93 south to Boulder City feel free to contact me offline (oleary@alcisp.com)
