Your bike
Hi there. My name is Luke. I read your poast which is quite dated so I'm not sure if you will reply back, but I'm hoping you may be able to inform me of your bike? I am contemplating a purchase of a fuji cross pro. it is not the touring model, but could you tell me if there is any difference in these styles and if you like the bike overall? Hope to hear from you soon./ Thanks!

Here's my touring setup. I've tried to get things as light as possible, without sacrificing comfort.
The total weight of what you see is 49lbs, that includes 2.5 litres of water and 2lbs of food.
The front rack carries my sleeping pad and mini-Trangia stove and pans.
Handlebar bag is for personal items, phone, maps, documents .
My tent is under the saddle and sleeping bag, clothes, tools and spares are in the saddlebag.

I have vaude panniers which are also rolltops like Ortlieb. The biggest complaint I hear is they don't have outside pockets. If you have paddled with dry bags you know the object is to keep everything dry. and that is what they do. They won't IMO do it as well with outside pockets. I was riding in torrential downpours in Quebec this year and everything in the vaudes stayed dry. That is all a pannier needs to do for me.
They are rolltops and have pockets. I have a pair of 48 and they're great. I don't know why I haven't heard more about them.

This is my brand new Raleigh Sojourn. I have only used it for commuting to and from school so far, but this summer I plan to take it on some camping trips across the state and maybe to New Orleans.

We have those Raleigh's at my shop. Pretty fantastic bikes, really. Exactly a front pannier short of being able to tour self-supported right out the box. Not a fan of the leather bar tape, but a couple other friends dig the hell out of it.

Here are some pics of my bike with just a few of the panniers and a trunk on. Not fully loaded, but you get the point.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I just got things put together the way god intended... I plan on using the bike (there are no garage queens here) for day trips up to 100 miles so a medium sized seat and bar roll might be all the carrying capacity I need.

Damn, you're probably bringing as much as I am. How hard was it to strap that hiking back on the back rack there. I will be doing the same exact thing, laying it down across the panniers and basically strapping it down. And also, are you carrying a tree?

On the way to an overnight camping tour, I transferred from the Northeast Corridor to the SEPTA R5 in Philadelphia 30th St Station. The mural is called, I think, something inspiring like "The Spirit of Transportation".

Stock Specialized Tricross Sport, with Topeak handlebar bag (the small one), Den Haag (ick) pannier bags, Topeak Super Tourist rear rack. Tent and rainjacket are strapped on top of the rack. Normally two bottle cages, but leant one to my gf.
Next time I'll try to get a bit less foliage in the shot
