Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

Hey, another Randonee tourer! Here's mine pulling a trailer, packed with a camping load for two:

The Randonee does a great job pulling the trailer up hills. I learned that the Burly Nomad trailer is great for touring, as long as you pack it well so the load doesn't move around inside. Also that clothes and sandals dry very well when bungeed to the top of the trailer.

No loaded tours yet, sadly. I'm planning something next year, not sure where, or when. But I'd figure you all would appreciate pics of my bike anyways. I think she's purty.

They're VO Retro Cages (w/ hook) with "Macchiato" (Honey) colored toe-clip leathers sewn around the outside edges. I was inspired by a post on the VO blog where someone did the same thing.

It was really quite simple. Took me less than an hour to do all three. The cages are tight for regular bottles, but they bend easily enough to make room, and are springy to hold the bottle in place 'cause of their ring design.

My rig.

2009 LHT.

Picture of a finished 300 mile 4 day trip. Fell in love with the bike on the trip, hope to head out soon for a 7+ day tour when I can get time off work.

Here are some pics of my trusty old '94 Trek 730 on the C&O canal towpath this summer. Not the ultimate tourer, but a fantastic commuter, grocery-getter and general-purpose ride. I'm about to take the plunge on a LHT if it would stop raining long enough for me to take a test ride on it!

The saddle appears to be tilited up too far because my seatpost splines stripped during this trip. I was unable to get the saddle to stay in any other position, so I had to get a new post.

Nice rig poweraranger. Just did the C&O earlier this summer, what an experience eh? Was wet, muddy, and challenging but great never-the-less.

Thanks. I feel kinda guilty getting the LHT, but the Trek will continue to be my workhorse. I'm planning to do a lot more touring, which justifies the purchase - I hope!

I really like the C&O - peaceful, lots of trees, and the ruins are always interesting. I'm looking forward to the 15M towpath upgrade. Heard that it was going to be smoothed out and resurfaced with crushed stone like it is near Cumberland. The best part for me is after a long hot ride, jump in the river and cool off!

posting attachment question

I'd like to post a photo of my trike from this summer's tour. When sizing the photo to the 100 kb maximum allowable file size, I wind up with a very small image of low quality. I notice that some of the photos that are being posted are quite large. What are the posters of these images doing that I'm not? My computer is an iMac. Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe it was a Tuesday or Wednesday. We rode from Santa Cruz (New Brighton SP) to Big Sur (Andrew Molera SP) that day . The ride was amazing. My friend and I did it in 6 days, which was perfect. I definitely could have packed a lot lighter though.
