Will 1.5 tires fit on 26 Sun Lite Rims?
I'm looking for a set of tough touring rims that can run both 1.5 or 2 inch tires. Will Sun Rhyno Lites handle both sizes? What about Velocity Cliffhangers or Chukkers?
I'll be on the road a lot next year, and plan to run 1.5 inch Supremes in America and Europe, and 2 inch Duremes or Extremes in Mexico and Central Asia. I've considered Velocity Aeroheats and Mavix XM719s, but I think they're too light for loaded off-road touring. Mavic EX721s can't handle tires under 2in, so they're out. Any advise would be welcome. ~ike |
sure, 1.5" tire equals 38mm, rhynolite rim is 27.5mm wide, that's more than a 19mm wide rim with 25mm tire. I've got a rhynolite on the rear and a 24mm dyad on the front of my LHT using 1.75" tires. A 1.5" tire won't look as cramped as a 24mm rim with 28mm tire.
