Finally found my touring bike - Novara Randonee

Well I've been looking for a touring bike for some time now, and thanks to all the advice and info on these forums I finally found one. I was originally thinking of converting my old Trek, but was thankfully talked out of it by most everyone here: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ek-800-opinion

Its a Novara Randonee, not sure of the year or history (the lady was selling it for a friend). Maybe someone here could help me out with the year. I got it off craigslist and it was a pretty good deal. It came with a lot of extras, including a brand new Brooks B17, pump and lights. It needs a good going through, new fenders, different racks, etc but is in great shape.

So here she is, as I picked it up.

Got a chance to ride a little, and I love it so far (though, this is my first non-MTB). Anyone else tour with a Randonee? I'd love to hear what you think of them. This bike will take me on my first Pacific Coast Tour this summer.

Here is a link to a tourer who crossed mostly on the TransAm Trail, then to San Francisco on a Randonee. She had a great trip on it. I don't recall her having any other problems than flat tires.

I have an older Randonee that got as just a frame. Mine is probably a mid to late 1990s in age and it has a Novara decal similar to your yours. Mine is red. Mine is a tiny one, 13.5in and it takes 26" size wheels. I have mine set up as a flatbar commuter/grocery-getter bike with front and rear racks. It's a really great bike! I like mine so much that I just got another frame exactly like it off of ebay, cheap. I'm either going to stash it away as a spare commuter frame or maybe build it up as a drop bar commuter. I have seen very few Randonees like mine.

Yours looks great! Ride the wheels of that thing!!

I've always liked the Randonee, though I've never ridden one. I'm guessing you didn't pay too much, which would make it even sweeter. Take a tour and report back; I'd like to hear your impressions afterwards.

I like the looks of the Randonee but have not owned or ridden one. Enjoy it.
