Flash sale gone at modernbike.com on LHT - I got one

Last Saturday night, I was scanning the internet for current prices on Surly LHT framesets. I ran across a sale that I surely thought was a mistake - new Surly LHT frameset in 56cm size only - $387.00 and free shipping. I placed an order before it disappeared. Now it is sitting in my living room 5 days later. I'm sorry to say the sale is over. Maybe they will do it again.

I know!!!! I saw that, almost pulled the trigger, by the time I had the money transferred into my account and cleared it with the wife, they were back up to $430. I was mad.

I bought one anyway.

Good deal!

A couple of months ago we were cruising the intertubes for a deal on a 42cm LHT for a friend. Found a website selling complete 42s for something like $193 shipped. Obviously a typo, but what the heck. We ordered two! Next day we got an email "sorry, cannot process your order". It was worth a try.

I answered an ad on CL from a local bike shop that specializes in the urban hipster crowd but for some reason had a Surly LHT frame. I ended up with the brand new, never touched frame for $200! The owner said he had it on his wall for over a year and nobody ever even sniffed at it. He just wanted it gone. Worked out nice for me.

Hey you did well. They are up to full price ($470) now. They still are a great value.

Not sure which size would fit me. I had a 2005 Kona Sutra, size 56, and it was too small, had to put a long steep stem to get it to fit. Looking at the LHT specs, thinking the 58 may be too large. I am 5' 10", with a 32" inseam. Any thoughts?

$43 off is not exactly the deal of the century. Add components and unless you get get a good deal on them too, you save a lot more on a full built bike unless you are really picky and like to build up your own.

I already had a few sets of nice 26" wheels from my commuter. It was well worth it, my complete build will cost around $600.
