Chicago to Marquette, MI in the UP...by bicycle...aka routing help

So I have an ambition to ride to the Yoop this summer. Has anyone here done, attempted or thought about this ride? Any ideas, inputs, info or suggestions on possible routes? Or where to find such routing information? I just Google Mapped the "bike" directions but I don't know how much stock I want to put in to those.

(Some about me personal FYIs: I have no qualms with bivouacking in the woods along side the road or with riding on major highway shoulders, but I'd rather not ride on narrow backcountry roads where the locals fly around like ****in Ricky Racer and I'm not too keen on 55+ MPH roads that don't have shoulders. But I can deal with whatever if I have to)

Thanks in advance everyone

Maybe these will help:

Michigan DOT Bike Pages

Bike maps for each county in Illinois

Both Michigan and Wisconsin have bike route maps available for download from the DOT. Michigan's are by region, Wiconsin's by county.

If you plan on going through lower Michigan to the UP you may want to check out these two trails:

White Pine Trail State Park (Grand Rapids to Cadillac)
North Central State Trail (Gaylord to Mackinaw City)
