Porteur racks are also Hip, now-a-days.

I will stick with my Wald's...I have one that has seen over 30 years of regular service.

Nice rig.

I had dual collapsible Wald baskets on the Schwinn Le Tour back in '83. Carried all my stuff in them, 5 days a week, on a 5 mile round-trip commute. I'd fold the baskets in every evening so bike could sit in the hallway without taking up too much space.

Thanks! I have had that bike since 1982 or so, it is a 1971. It was my only form of transportation for several years. It has been semi retired and is primarily used as you see it...BEER RUN! When I roll out of the grocery store the country club set always do a double take.

I was in a bike store a few weeks ago out of province and they had a silver one very similar to this, and I was quite perplexed of why it was so overengineered, I mean there is only so much that a headset can take and or how handling is affected.
In anycase it was the sturdiest looking sucker I'd ever seen.

It wont fit a 105 lb girlfriend like my porteur rack does though...

nothing manlier than riding your lady around.
