Tubus Tara with J-Hook Front Bags
I got a Tubus Tara rack and noticed the instructions show optional plastic clamps for bags that use j-hooks. I have a pair of Arkel T-28s with j-hooks that I plan on using with the rack. There is no chance of me getting the clips before my tour.
Any suggestions for an improvised method for keeping the j-hooks in place? Or is it not generally a problem? I thought maybe a few wraps of electrical tape and some plastic cable ties, or maybe some p-clips from a hardware store.

That's along the lines of what I was thinking as I roamed the hardware store isles today. I couldn't find any p-clips at the two places I tried. I have a few other places to stop at.
If all else fails I'll get cable ties with a round screw hole on the end to attach to the rack. Then loop a smaller cable tie through that hole to make a hoop for the j-hook to latch onto.

I found the same D-ring loops (picture frame hanging loops if anyone is interested). I painted them black and put a bit of tape on the end to keep the paint from rubbing off. I was only able to find nylon p-clips, I guess I'll find out if they are strong enough. I lined the inside of the p-clips with electrical tape to keep them from sliding, then held everything together with 8/32 by 1/2" brass machine bolts.
