Need pricing advice for trek 620.
I have an old trek 620 touring bike, grey/silver with light blue around trek logo.i believe it is form 1983 or 84 it is a 52 or 54 cm frame, it is in poor to decent cosmetic condtion and in decent to good mechanical condition, the rims are original 27 inch, but needs new tubes, tires, brakes, chain, tune, etc. cassette, chain rings, and derailers seem to be in good shape. has three chain rings. Has fircition dowtube shifters that may need to be replace but not quite sure. Not ready to ride, suitable for a project. How much is a fair price to ask for it?

Do you mind posting pictures? That would be most ideal. I found my friend the same bike in great/near mint condition ($140 parked right outside a bike store!), and I've seen some on eBay recently asking for $6-700 (although I'm not sure it sold). It's a quality build with a solid history behind it. From what I've read it's the lesser of the famous Trek tourers but I love it. Hard to say without pictures but if it looks like crap and I think I can bring it back to life mechanically... I'd say...$300 to start and maybe sell it for $250? I will definitely be checking back on this thread... =)
LA area prices tend to be higher.

Can I ask where you're located? I have an '82 Trek 613 that is in very nice shape, but I've been wanting to improve it with lower gearing for some light touring (I only have a double chainring). I've been looking for a 520/620/720 that I could maybe swap in the appropriate bits (derailleurs, BB, crank, freewheel) to effective turn my bike into a 620.
BTW, I paid $275 for my bike a couple years ago in basically NOS condition. In my area, a 620 in good shape would run about $300-350. One in rougher shape that needed some work would go for about $200 maybe.
