How many kilometers to expect from old Avocet Cross tires ?

I've had those tires for about 8-9 years now, just haven't used them much. Now I'll be touring next summer and I wonder if the fact that they are old will make the (dry maybe?) rubber wear faster ? They were stored in a dry but cool basement. Oh and they are 26x1.25".

They look pristine, but they may have some dry out awaiting. They are very, very durable and were my favorite touring/dirt road tire and I miss that Avocet went under and they are no longer available.

That said, they are heavy beasts and if not riding dirt roads, I'd consider replacing for a slick/tourer tire that weighs less. My current favorite is a set of Michelin City Trekking that run about $30 ea.

I run a set of these on my path racer... these were also NOS and in very good shape with no cracking and simply love the roll out and speed they offer.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I've always heard good things about them which is why I bought a set when their qualities were taken for granted. It is a shame that they are not available anymore, and that no one else offers a tire with similar tread design. I guess I should be fine for a good part of the tour.
