improving size of gps screen
has anyone using a sat nav on the bike come up with ideas how to make the screen appear bigger like for instance somehow putting a magnifying glass in front of it .problem is how to attach it
as i'm getting older my eyesite is not what it used to be ,besides the garmin legend screen is to small IMHO.Paul engineering have a stem cap which looks great attaches to stem bringing the unit that bit closer... but is there other clamps out there that you could fit the magnifing glass into.
crazy idea maybe but got to ask.

Thinking of the Dystopian film 'Brazil' where the little screens
had a Fresnel lens-sheet suspended in front ,to enlarge them.

I have the same problem with my iPhone on the bike. My vision is still 20/20 but at the age of 50 I needed reading glasses like overnight. Pain to put on when riding and if you do put them on they mess up your distance. I have been wanting a single eye flip down on my helmet somehow. Kind of the same idea. When I tell people about that I get a strange look. Maybe I should just build one and see if it works.

Thought of the flip down sunglasses that baseball players used , myself ,
for the reading lens.
hang cheapies from a neck keeper, instead..
older sooner, I'm still a paper map guy..

I have one of these for my Garmin gpsmap60csx. I've used it on my motorcycle since I'm moving much faster and don't have the luxury to move in close to see the small screen.

Since the magnifier doesn't attach directly to the gps, but rather stands away from the screen it would work for your Legend. The magnifier has a flexible arm that attaches to the Ram mount that would be holding your gps. The flexiable arm is nice since it allows you to move the screen up/down and in/out.

I've hardly ever used the map with the Garmin Legend when I owned one. Create your route on the computer, upload it to your GPS and then use the "ARROW" to guild you through all the turns. No map is needed.

I use 4.0 reading glasses to see the detail of photos on the LCD on the back of my camera. That way I can hold it quite close and see it very well.
A friend of mine has safety sunglasses that he bought at a safety story, they also have bifocal reading lenses built in. I think he said they were about $12. He described them to me when I gave him a hard time for putting on his sunglasses in the restaurant so that he could read the menu.
I have stick on lenses on some of my sunglasses, but they are quite pricey.

If I was looking for another pair, I would go to the safety store and look at their safety sunglass/reading glasses.

Just pack your GPS in the handlebar bag and a hand held magnifying glass..
guess that puts the whole topic back to the top of the page..
