Phil Wood Tandem hub and Bob trailer
I have an older tandem with a Phil Wood hub which uses the allen-bolt axle attachment to which I would like to attach a Bob trailer. Is this possible? Anyone ever try this?

there are BoB tandem width skewers , might need to get them from Santana's stock
I think the allen bolt once removed lets you use a normal skewer.
Of course if there is a custom machine shop to make new compatible ends for you
all the better.

I am unsure which PW hubs you have, but ... I bought a new set of black never laced PW hubs with 48 spokes. I cannot remember of they had allen screws or not, but they took the skewer for my Bob Ibex. can you see through the axle of the PW, or is it solid.
OTOH, why not contact PW customer service at: service@philwood.com and get fast info from them.

I have that hub left over from a wheel upgrade I did a couple of years ago of a custom built '90 C'dale Tandem. That is a great bullet proof hub.
While I would not hesitate using longer grade 5 or grade 8 bolts to attach your trailer, I would call PW and ask if there is any downside risk just to be safe. I would certainly use the bolts before a long skewer because the bolts are far more robust. Good luck

PW makes a special bolt-on cap assembly specifically for BOB trailer attachment. Order a set - about $60 shipped.
Or, you could convert PW hub to QR mounting and use a standard BOB tandem-length skewer assembly. This would probably cost more, since the BOB skewer alone is $35 shipped, and you still need to pay PW.
