California national forests

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here has done much touring on the forest service roads and jeep trails in northern california? I am planning a 3 day 2 night bikepacking trip and looking for suggestions on good areas to go.

I`ve done a lot of weekend trips on Plumas County fire roads, but not much yet from the rest of the state. So many roads, so few weekends! If you`re going into the maze of logging and fire roads in any National Forest areas, , try to pick up the USFS map for the specific area you`ll be in because they`re the only maps I know of that give you the road numbers that you`ll see when you`re out there. I don`t know how far inland you want to go- I`m sure there are a lot of cool places closer to you, but here is the mostly dirt trip I took last weekend, just above Oroville on Highway 70:

and a half paved, half highway trip from last fall around Lake Almanor:

Next year I`m hoping to focus on the area south of Quincy.

Hey thanks. I haven't tried Plumas yet. I ride a fair bit in Stanislaus and Tahoe but haven't tried any other forests for riding. I was considering Mendicino but had a bad experience there a few years back....ran up on a pot grow I think, was summertime though. Someone started shooting I guess to scare me off. I was hiking not riding though.

If you hear shooting in Mendocino now, maybe it`ll be the feds shooting it out with the sheriff

I just linked to some of the places I ride because they`re close to home. I know all the way up the eastern side of the Sierra and Cascade ranges and all the coastal ranges have lots of killer back roads.
