Hi People,

I've looking at on-one pompetamine 8speed hub bike for my winter ride and perhaps as a touring bike.

Would love to get your opinion on the following bike as I'm planning on touring next year in Europe.

My concern is whether 8 speed IGH is enough to tackle steep hills and another concern is its reliability.

reading specs it comes with a 45t chainring, a 20t hub cog. if the low is not low enough,
the cure is a smaller chainring, until you reach the mechanical limit for the hub
[its in the manual]
2:1? that would be a 40t :20T .... ratios and proportions math ....
or getting off and pushing..
An old British term "Push-Bike" applies to non motorized bikes..

once you lower the low , you also lower the high too,
since the % range is in the hub.

people have put on a chain tensioner front shifting mech,
and 2 chainrings on to spread out the range ..

British Brand, you going to get this in UK, tour on it and then bring it back for the
AUstralian winter ?

The gear range can be doable as long as you don't mind not having high gears for pedaling down hills at 25mph+. You won't be getting the low lows like you can with a triple crankset and wide range cassette. My reservation is whether you have to ride with rear panniers as the chainstays are kind of short and the head angle is kind of steep. It looks like a sturdy and quick handling commuter bike. To turn it into a tourer I'd look to putting low riders on the front, a big bag behind the seat and small or no rear panniers so too much weight isn't hanging behind the rear wheel. The rims are strong but I'd pick more puncture resistant tires than Marathon Racers.

I'm planning to order this bike from UK and use it as my winter bike in Australia and also a touring bike.

If it all goes well I'm going to use it to cycle around europe next year.
