Hi I browsed some threads here before buying my first touring bike.

The previous bike I road before this was a Simple fixed gear cruiser bike. I must have logged 4000+ miles on it by riding it consecutively for 3 solid years. Suffice to say i was due for a change..




After scoring a job in this questionable economy I thought it necessary to treat myself. Being a backpacker and section hiker of Centennial trails in multiple states, as well as a lover of efficiency, I kept pondering the idea of getting a bike to travel the world on.

I ended up getting the rondonee mostly due to REI's supreme return policy. They have treated me better than any company, & fortunately for the fit on the Rondonee - I couldn't go with any other option. I have lived out of a bag for a portion of my life, and having an REI in relative distance has done me wonders.

I am slowly planning a trek in 2012 to get lost after I bike from Idaho to a stint in Yosemite National park. I will begin in the middle of the summer most likely, and then choose a direction to go from there.

I created this thread to see if anyone out there will be touring this summer specifically in the range of mount shasta or yosemite national park (as far west as the sea).

I am still bedazzled to have such an upgrade in my life. This is a lifechanger!

Very nice! It is nice to hear that good things are happening for you and that this bike, which will make such a huge difference is one of them. I am sure you will enjoy many happy miles and years with your new steed. It must be a dream to ride after your old bike, although it sounds as if it too served you well.
