Shoes for pedals with clips and straps

Anyone have suggestions for shoes for clips and straps? I found a few posts on this, but they are getting to be outdated, and some of the shoes suggested are no longer available. I wear big shoes, so some of the high end retro looking shoes don't come in my size 14, or size 49 European.

I'm riding a Raleigh Clubman, more recreationally, but thought the touring crowd would be the most likely to have suggestions. I'm a landscape painter, and have started strapping art equipment to my rear rack and biking into the countryside to paint.

This past weekend on the Natchez Trace in Mississippi:

I ordered a pair of indoor soccer shoes, Adidas Samba, but the soles are quite thin and more flexible than I expected.

I'm looking for lace up shoes that won't have anything to get hung up in the straps, with a little bit of traction on the sole, some degree of rigidity, but still the possibility of walking in them. Any ideas?

I use these.

They run a tad on the small size.
I wear 13s, but in these I wear 14's

I have a pair of Performance Traverse shoes. I consider them to be touring shoes, although they are marketed as MTB shoes. I wear them with SPD's, but you can leave the cleat cutout installed, and they have a nice grippy sole. Good compromise between cycling and walking performance. I've always felt sure footed with them. They do seem sized a touch small. My size 43's were a little snug until I got a couple hundred miles on them. I recently installed some elastic sports laces to keep from having loose laces near the chainrings. Until I got those, I just wrapped a small velcro band around them and tucked the loops into the shoes.
